Las Vegas, Nevada – Brock Lesnar threw a right strait to stun Randy “the natural” Couture. And although he stated that he had previously fought fighters much bigger than him, his reaction when asked if how he felt about Lesnar’s hits he said: “They are some big-ass ham hocks coming at you.”
Through the many criticisms, Brock was labeled the underdog of the match, losing out on a ton of experience and tactical prowess compared to Couture, who at 45, still “Feels like getting better”. And despite being dubbed with endurance issues and careless mistakes (like the one that cost him his loss to Frank Mir), Brock was a fighter that night that was patient and accurate, Picking his shots carefully and not rushing. And all that paid off with UFC gold.
After the fight, Randy congratulated the new champion and thanked the fans, and he didnt look like an old fighter. He still looked like a fierce warrior that would come back and take on the next opponent any minute. On the other side, the newly crowned champion, received some boos but didn’t show cockiness, instead credited his achievement through his hard work and God; The image as a heavyweight champion suited him well.
