Restaurant Review: Curry Curry House!

Good curry is hard to find these days,  it’s either cheap, bad tasting ones or great but too expensive. And like good curry, Curry curry house got the blend of it just right.

The menu, you might want to take a look at this.

The menu, you might want to take a look at this.

Located at the Atrium wing of SM Megamall, it just started doing business around November of 2008. It’s a humble little restaurant offering Japanese curry cuisine amongst bigger and more famous competition. Despite that, their selling point is serving great curry paired with unlimited rice and bottomless iced tea, ensuring that a hungry customer will have a full stomach once they’re done.

They have little wooden sticks (bamboo?) on glass vases displayed on the tables, which I immediately mistook for chopsticks, silly me. They also have japanese tea sets which is not only for show, as they use these serve their green tea.

Now, the curry part. Of course, the sensible thing was to order curry as their name implies, so we ordered Tofu and vegetable curry, Omu sausage curry and a miso soup. Their setup is more like a fastfood where you pay and order by the counter instead of having waiters take your order. The orders came relatively fast, but then again, it wasn’t exactly jam packed while we were there.

img_7918I was surprised at how good the Omu sausage curry tasted, for me it was really a unique dish as I’ve never tried sausage with curry sauce. It makes me think that anything can go well with their curry sauce. Speaking of curry sauce, they offer it in two varieties: spicy and um….not spicy. The obvious choice for me was spicy, as I personally think curry is best served spicy. What they served however, was not as spicy as I would’ve liked. That being said, it’s pretty safe to go the spicy route without fear of having to down your iced tea in 2 seconds. The dish was served with a hefty amount of rice, which made it unnecessary to get a refill, but the best part of it was being able to order extra curry sauce. On extra hungry days, extra rice with curry sauce is a route which gives you the most bang for your buck.

They also Offer free wi-fi, which is great! nothing beats free wi-fi, nothing. The feeling of free internet connection while sipping tea is as comforting as zen itself.

It’s good food and service for a decent price, 160 - 250 pesos per person ensures a full stomach for all. If you ever find yourself by the Atrium in Megamall, do give this place a try. Curry lovers and Japanese food connoisseurs will get to try a wide range of food centered upon a curry core.
